New Helmholtz Institute for "One Health" in Greifswald

The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (www.helmholtz-hzi.de) is founding a new outpost in Greifswald, which will be dedicated to "One Health" research topics. With an annual institutional budget of € 5.5 million, the new Helmholtz Institute will focus on epidemiology, molecular mechanisms and pathogenesis as well as pathogen-host-environment interactions of primarily zoonotic infections. The local cooperation partners are the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute, the University of Greifswald and the University Medicine Greifswald.

At the moment, the position of Institute Director is being filled, which is associated with a full professorship for "One Health" at the University of Greifswald. The directorial tasks include the design of an internationally competitive research programme, additional recruitment at various levels, the establishment of the necessary infrastructure and the conception of the planned new institute building. The candidate should have proven scientific leadership, outstanding academic achievements and the potential to head a larger research unit.
