Within the framework of the promotion of young scientists of the National Research Platform for Zoonoses, the Junior Scientist Breakfast has established itself as an integral part of the National Symposium on Zoonoses Research. Also in 2018, the Breakfast took place in the morning of the last symposium day in the restaurant of the venue.
Every year, the symposium brings together hundreds of representatives from the zoonoses research community in Berlin. In order to promote interdisciplinary exchange and networking across career levels, the Junior Scientist Breakfast was established. The Breakfast is intended to give young scientists the opportunity to get in touch with established scientists who are also participating in the symposium. This is an opportunity to inform themselves about individual job descriptions and career options and to build up their own scientific network.
This year, established members of the community Prof. Dr. Stefanie Becker (TiHo Hannover), Prof. Dr. Stefan Bereswill (Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin), Dr. Donata Hoffmann (Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, Greifswald - Insel Riems), Prof. Dr. Uwe Rösler (BfR Berlin) and Dr. Imke Steffen (TiHo Hannover) took part in the breakfast. They shared their career experiences with the young scientists present and answered questions over coffee and croissant.
